Dallin Hall announces return to BYU basketball program after brief stint in transfer portal

Brigham Young Cougars guard Dallin Hall has decided to stay put and continue his collegiate basketball career with BYU, after briefly entering the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-4 point guard made the announcement on Instagram, expressing his commitment to the Cougars despite the coaching changes that occurred.

Hall’s return is a significant boost for the BYU program, as he averaged 9.0 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season. His decision to stay will provide much-needed depth at the point guard position for the team heading into their second season in the Big 12 conference.

In addition to Hall, fellow teammate Richie Saunders also announced his return to the Cougars, solidifying the team’s roster for the upcoming season. Both players opting to stay is a positive development for new head coach Kevin Young, who is balancing his coaching duties with the Phoenix Suns during their NBA playoff series.

Hall had attracted interest from several schools while in the transfer portal, including Creighton, Clemson, and Florida, among others. However, the Fremont High alum ultimately chose to remain at BYU, where he still has two years of eligibility remaining.

With Hall and Saunders back in the fold, BYU looks poised to make a strong push in the upcoming season. Fans can expect to see Hall’s dynamic playmaking abilities on full display as he looks to lead the Cougars to success in the Big 12 and beyond.
