The Dalles High Senior Henry Begay Signs Letter of Intent to Play Basketball at Blue Mountain Community College

The Dalles High senior Henry Begay has officially achieved his dream of playing college basketball after signing a letter of intent to attend Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton. Begay, a standout point guard for the Riverhawks, will join the Timberwolves under the guidance of Coach Doug Baxter.

Begay, who was surrounded by family and friends during his signing ceremony at The Dalles High School, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level. With aspirations of transferring to another college after his two-year stint at Blue Mountain, Begay is determined to make the most of his time on the court.

During his senior season, Begay put up impressive numbers, averaging 15 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists per game. His stellar performance on the court earned him a spot on the first team all-TVC, as well as recognition as the league’s leader in assists and second-leading rebounder.

Coach Brian Stevens spoke highly of Begay’s dedication to both basketball and academics, noting that the senior guard’s focus on his education and career path is commendable. Begay’s leadership on and off the court was instrumental in helping the Riverhawks secure a third-place finish in the OSAA Class 4A Tri-Valley Conference standings, marking their first winning record in over a decade.

As Begay prepares to embark on this new chapter in his basketball journey, his former coach Stevens reflects on the impact he had on the team and the legacy he leaves behind. With his work ethic and commitment to excellence, Begay has set a high standard for his teammates to follow, ensuring that his presence will be sorely missed on the court next season.
