Duke Basketball Freshman TJ Power Enters Transfer Portal: What’s Next for Blue Devils?
Duke Basketball Freshman TJ Power Enters Transfer Portal, Leaves Blue Devils
It seems like Duke basketball freshman forward TJ Power won’t be returning for his sophomore year with the Blue Devils. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound sharpshooter has entered the transfer portal, joining five others who have made the same decision in Durham.
Power, a five-star prospect out of Worcester Academy, arrived at Duke last summer with high expectations. However, he only averaged 7.0 minutes off the bench in his 26 appearances under head coach Jon Scheyer, scoring 2.1 points per game while shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.
In a heartfelt farewell letter posted on social media, Power thanked Duke for the opportunity and expressed his excitement for a new chapter in his basketball career.
With Power’s departure, the Blue Devils now have only nine scholarship players on their roster for the upcoming season. Despite the lack of seniors or graduates, Duke’s incoming class is ranked No. 1 in the country and includes top prospect Cooper Flagg.
In addition to the talented freshmen, guards Caleb Foster and Tyrese Proctor are set to return with starting experience. Coach Scheyer and his staff are actively pursuing transfers to fill the remaining spots on the roster.
As Duke continues to navigate the changing landscape of college basketball, fans can expect more updates and news from Blue Devil Country on SI. Stay tuned for the latest developments in the Duke basketball program.
