Alissa Pili’s Journey from Dimond Lynx to Minnesota Lynx: A Story of Inspiration and Achievement

Alissa Pili, a former Dimond High School standout, is set to make her debut with the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA after being drafted as the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 draft. Pili, who had a stellar college career at the University of Utah, is excited to represent her home state of Alaska on the professional stage.

Pili’s journey from high school to the WNBA has come full circle, as she now shares the same mascot with her high school team. Her father, Billy, believes it was destiny for her to end up with the Lynx and hopes she has a long and successful career with the team.

Joining Pili on the Lynx is fellow Alaskan Ruthy Hebard, making them the only two active players from the state in the league. Pili and Hebard, who played together on the same AAU team, are excited to represent Alaska and pave the way for future generations of female basketball players.

As a role model for young Alaskans and athletes from multiple cultures, Pili feels a sense of responsibility to inspire others to pursue their dreams. She hopes to show kids in Alaska that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.

On draft day, Pili was overcome with emotion as she heard her name called and realized her dream of playing in the WNBA. Her family, including her parents and siblings, were there to support her and share in the joy of her accomplishment.

Pili’s debut with the Lynx is set for May 14 in Seattle, with the home opener on May 17 at Target Center. Fans are eager to see this Alaskan star shine on the professional stage and continue to make her state proud.
