Top Performers in High School Basketball: Carter Brink, Ray Cortes, Dominic Gonzalez, Roger Markham, and Davion White
In a thrilling season of high school basketball, several standout players have been recognized for their exceptional performances on the court. Among them, Carter Brink of Panama High School stood out as he was named a CCAA Division 2 West co-Player of the Year. Brink, a junior, showcased his skills by averaging an impressive 25.7 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game for the Panthers, who finished with a stellar 20-3 record and reached the Section VI Class C semifinals.
Another standout player, Ray Cortes of Silver Creek High School, was named a CCAA Division 1 East Second-Team All-Star. The senior player averaged 23.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.7 steals, and 1.6 blocked shots per game for the Black Knights, who finished with a 12-10 record and reached the Section VI Class B2 quarterfinals.
Dominic Gonzalez, a sophomore from Jamestown High School, was recognized as an ECIC Division 1 Second-Team All-Star. Gonzalez averaged 13.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game for the Red & Green team, who had an impressive 21-5 record and won both the Section VI Class AA1 and crossover titles.
Roger Markham, a sophomore from Falconer High School, was named a CCAA Division 1 East First-Team All-Star. Markham averaged 18 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 3 steals per game for the Golden Falcons, who clinched the Section VI Class B2 title, marking the program’s first championship since 1982.
Lastly, Davion White of Fredonia High School was recognized as a CCAA Division 1 West First-Team All-Star. The senior player averaged 18 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for the Hillbillies, who finished with a 15-7 record and reached the Section VI Class B1 quarterfinals.
These talented players have undoubtedly left their mark on the high school basketball scene and will be ones to watch in the future as they continue to excel in their athletic careers.
