Utes Baseball Enters Top-25 Rankings and Continues Strong Season

The University of Utah baseball team is making waves this season as they have entered the top-25 rankings for the first time in school history. The Utes, with a record of 29-13 overall and 14-7 in the Pac-12, are currently tied for first place in the conference standings alongside No. 21 Arizona.

Under the leadership of third-year head coach Gary Henderson, the Utes have been exceeding expectations all season long. Despite being picked to finish 10th in the Pac-12 preseason poll, Utah has proven all the doubters wrong with their impressive performance on the field.

The Utes’ success can be attributed to their strong pitching staff, which ranks third in the Pac-12 with a 4.71 ERA. Left-handed closer Micah Ashman leads the league with 10 saves, the third-most in the nation, and holds the Utah career record for saves with 19.

Offensively, shortstop Core Jackson and Kai Roberts have been standouts for the Utes. Jackson boasts a batting average of .367, while Roberts is hitting .364 and leads the Pac-12 with 28 stolen bases this season.

In their most recent series against UCLA, Utah showcased their resilience with a three-game sweep, bringing their total number of come-from-behind wins to 18 this season. The Utes have won six of their seven Pac-12 series so far, with their only setback coming against then-No. 3 Oregon State.
