High School Sports Recap: Eaton’s Victory and More Results from May 27, 2023
In a thrilling day of high school sports action, the Eaton Reds continued their dominant run in baseball, defeating Timnath 10-0 in a lopsided victory. The Reds, now 7-0 overall and 3-0 in 3A Patriot League play, wasted no time asserting their dominance, jumping out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and never looking back. Junior Cash Rinker led the charge for Eaton, going 2 for 3 with four RBI, while the pitching trio of Joey Blaskowski, Garrett Garrison, and Mitch Haythorn combined to allow just two hits and strike out eight batters over five shutout innings.
Meanwhile, the University Bulldogs also continued their winning ways, defeating Highland 13-1 in a five-inning mercy rule victory. The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Class 3A Patriot League play, with seniors Dalton Yaste and Kaleb Tejada leading the offensive charge with three RBI each. The pitching duo of Gage Viken and Connor Weber shut down Highland’s offense, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out 11 batters.
In other baseball action, Valley defeated Strasburg 5-1, Weld Central dominated Arvada 21-10, and Thompson Valley handed Northridge a 15-5 loss. In girls soccer, Northridge cruised to a 7-0 victory over Severance, while Frontier Academy played to a scoreless draw with Berthoud. In girls tennis, Greeley West swept Greeley Central 7-0, Windsor defeated Silver Creek 6-1, and Eaton triumphed over Brush 6-1.
