Swan Valley sophomore shines on the baseball field after football injury
Swan Valley sophomore Jamison Pelt may have had his football season cut short due to an injury, but he proved that he is a multi-talented athlete by leading the baseball team to a doubleheader sweep against Otisville-LakeVille.
In the first game, a 6-3 victory, Pelt went 2-for-2 with a run and a walk. Pitcher Colton Klein also had a strong performance, earning the win with four strikeouts over six innings. Pelt continued his stellar play in the second game, a 13-3 win, going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs. He also contributed on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out four batters.
Pelt wasn’t the only standout player for Swan Valley in the doubleheader. John Meyette and Brady Stephens each had three hits, with Meyette scoring three runs and Stephens driving in three. Joey Miller also had a solid game, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
In other baseball action, Midland and Bay City Western split a doubleheader, with Western coming out on top in the first game thanks to a five-run eighth inning. Midland bounced back in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning for a 6-1 victory.
On the softball diamond, Midland High dominated Bay City Western in a doubleheader, winning 17-3 and 16-0. Grace Schloop reached a milestone in the opener, recording her 600th career strikeout while allowing no hits and striking out 12 batters in five innings.
Overall, it was a successful day for Swan Valley and the other local high school teams, showcasing the talent and determination of these young athletes.
