Southwestern Trojans Power Past Chautauqua Lake in Nonleague Baseball Game

Southwestern Trojans continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 13-1 victory over Chautauqua Lake in a nonleague baseball game on Monday. The Trojans showcased their power at the plate, with seniors Peter Conley and Chase Kartesz both hitting home runs in the game.

Head coach Jared Brown praised his team’s offensive performance, highlighting the depth of their lineup and the hard work put in by the players. Conley’s home run in the third inning extended the lead to 9-0, while Kartesz sealed the victory with a walk-off three-run homer in the fifth inning.

Despite the lopsided score, Chautauqua Lake showed resilience and fought back to scratch across a run in the top of the fifth inning. Southwestern’s pitcher Brody Ellis delivered a strong performance, allowing just one unearned run while striking out eight batters.

The Trojans took an early lead in the second inning and never looked back, capitalizing on Chautauqua Lake’s mistakes and aggressive baserunning. The Eagles struggled on the mound, walking eight batters and giving up key hits to the Trojans.
