Saint Louis Baseball Claims ILH Title and State Tournament Berth with Big Win Over Kamehameha
In a thrilling redemption story, the Saint Louis baseball team bounced back from a near no-hitter to claim the Interscholastic League of Honolulu regular-season title and secure a spot in the state tournament with a dominant 12-2 victory over Kamehameha at Central Oahu Regional Park.
After being shut down by Kamehameha’s ace Greyson Osbun just days earlier, the Crusaders came out swinging, racking up 14 hits and putting together two big innings to seal the win in just five innings. Led by standout performances from Kolby Gushiken, Sean Yamaguchi, Tanner Chun, and Shannon Fee, Saint Louis left no doubt in their quest for redemption.
The victory was especially sweet for the Saint Louis seniors, who remembered falling short against Kamehameha at the same stage last season. Determined to make amends, the Crusaders came out with a fire and passion that propelled them to victory.
Head coach Benny Agbayani, a former major leaguer, praised his team’s resilience and determination, emphasizing the importance of staying true to themselves and playing their game. The Crusaders’ performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
With the ILH double-elimination tournament on the horizon, Saint Louis is looking to carry their momentum forward and secure their spot in the state tournament. The road ahead won’t be easy, but with their recent triumph over Kamehameha, the Crusaders have proven that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
As they prepare for the challenges ahead, Saint Louis is focused on playing their brand of baseball and continuing to push towards their ultimate goal. With their eyes set on the prize, the Crusaders are ready to take on whatever comes their way in pursuit of glory on the diamond.
