Lumberjacks Dominate Hudson’s Bay in 10-0 Victory, Secure Third Seed in League

The R.A. Long Lumberjacks had a dominating performance in Vancouver as they secured a 10-0 victory over Hudson’s Bay in 2A Greater St. Helens League baseball action. The win not only showcased their strength on the field but also solidified their third seed in the league standings.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning when the Lumberjacks exploded with five runs, followed by another five-run outburst in the seventh inning. Logan Bodily and Hunter Brewer were instrumental in the offensive surge, with Bodily delivering a three-run single in the sixth and Brewer adding a three-run double in the seventh.

Pitching was also a key factor in the Lumberjacks’ success, with Reece Grothoff and Hunter Brewer combining for a shutout performance. Grothoff earned the win after pitching for one out in the fifth inning, while Brewer pitched four scoreless, no-hit innings with five strikeouts.

With this impressive victory, R.A. Long (14-7, 11-5 league) now sets their sights on the 2A District IV baseball tournament, where they will face W.F. West, the number two seed from the Evergreen Conference, on the road. The first-round matchup is scheduled for Tuesday, with the first-pitch time yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, the Mark Morris Monarchs faced a tough loss to Columbia River, ending their five-game winning streak with a 10-0 defeat in their final regular season game. Despite the setback, the Monarchs (12-8, 10-6 league) secured the fourth seed in the league and are gearing up to face Tumwater, the number one seed from the EvCo, in the district tournament on Tuesday.

As the postseason approaches, both teams are focused on making a strong push for success and are eager to showcase their skills in the upcoming playoff matchups. Stay tuned for more thrilling baseball action as the district tournaments get underway.
