Montgomery Stays Undefeated with Dominant Win Over Sugar Valley
Montgomery continued their undefeated streak with a commanding 15-1 victory over Sugar Valley in Friday’s game at Taggart Park. The Red Raiders took an early lead in the first two innings, scoring four runs while Sugar Valley managed to score their only run in the third inning.
The game took a lopsided turn in the top of the fourth inning when Montgomery freshman Victor Ottman tripled to score a run, followed by multiple runs scored off errors and hits by the Red Raiders. Sugar Valley struggled to contain Montgomery’s offense, leading to a 12-1 score at the end of the inning.
Despite a brief offensive effort by Sugar Valley in the fifth inning, Montgomery’s lead continued to grow with more runs scored. The game ended after five innings due to the mercy rule, with Montgomery securing their 14th consecutive win and maintaining a perfect 9-0 record in the Mid-Penn D4 conference.
Sugar Valley, on the other hand, is still searching for their first win of the season as their record drops to 0-11 in the conference. Coach Chuck Walizer expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance but remains hopeful for improvement in the future.
Montgomery’s dominant performance showcased their strength as a team, with solid pitching from sophomore Parker Persing and consistent scoring throughout the game. As they look ahead to the rest of the season, Montgomery aims to continue their winning streak and maintain their position at the top of the conference standings.
