High School Baseball Roundup: Murray County Central takes solo first place in Red Rock Conference standings
Murray County Central’s baseball team continues to dominate the Red Rock Conference standings after a convincing 9-2 victory over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey. The Rebels are now sitting comfortably in first place with a perfect 5-0 conference record and an overall record of 6-1.
The game started off with MCC trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, but they quickly turned things around by scoring two runs to take the lead. The Rebels then exploded for six runs in the fourth inning and added one more in the fifth to secure the win. MLA/C managed to score one more run in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to catch up to the dominant Rebels.
Pitcher Teague Meyer was a standout player for MCC, pitching a complete game and also contributing at the plate with two RBIs. Dylan and Dugan Kluis each had two hits, while Cayden Veldhuisen had a crucial 2-RBI hit. Aidan Dierks, Dylan Kluis, and Owen Gillette also contributed with RBIs.
Next up for the Rebels is a highly anticipated matchup against second-place Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian. The game is set to take place in Edgerton on Monday, where MCC will look to maintain their undefeated conference season.
