Area Sports Recap: West Dominates in Baseball and Tennis, Salisbury Shines in Soccer and Tennis; Track Meet Sees Many Winners
In a whirlwind of high school sports action, the West Rowan Falcons emerged victorious in baseball and tennis, while the Salisbury Hornets dominated in soccer and tennis. Additionally, there were plenty of track winners from various schools in the area.
The West Rowan baseball team extended their winning streak to six games with a commanding 6-0 victory over North Iredell. Maddox Moore and Alex Hagler combined for the shutout, with Eli Graham and Drew Burton leading the offensive charge.
In high school track, East Rowan’s girls team showcased their dominance by winning a five-team meet, while West Rowan’s boys tied for first place with Lake Norman Charter. Individual standouts included Savannah Wose, Sadie Featherstone, and Skyy Ruben.
Salisbury’s boys track team put on a show at Livingstone College, securing first place in a four-team meet. Ethan Griffin, Tyree Brown, and Deuce Walker were among the standout performers for the Hornets.
On the soccer field, Salisbury bounced back from a recent loss to West Davidson with a resounding 7-0 victory over Lexington. Maddie Crabb, Stephany Quintero, and Addie Griffith were among the goal scorers for the Hornets.
In tennis action, Salisbury emerged victorious in a non-conference match against Ledford, with AJ Jarrell and Gray Davis leading the way. The Hornets look to finish the regular season strong before heading into the conference tournament.
