Lighthouse Christian Lions Clinch State Tournament Berth with Victory over Glenns Ferry
Lighthouse Christian’s baseball team had a night to remember as they secured a spot in the 1A state tournament with a dominant 16-6 victory over Glenns Ferry. The Lions, in their first official season with a full varsity schedule, showed their determination and skill on the field at CSI Skip Walker Field in Twin Falls.
Led by standout performances from players like Collin VanderHam, Ben Ford, and Justice Schrader, the Lions put on a hitting clinic that left Glenns Ferry struggling to keep up. VanderHam’s celebrations in the dugout reflected the team’s confidence and unity as they worked together to secure the win.
Head coach Edward Wood praised his team’s hard work and dedication, attributing their success to their commitment to the game and each other. The Lions’ journey from a new program to state tournament qualifiers is a testament to their resilience and talent.
With players like Ford racking up four hits and seven RBIs, and Schrader striking out 12 batters in five innings, the Lions showcased their all-around skills and teamwork. The win marked their ninth straight victory, with seven of those wins coming via mercy rule.
As the Lions look ahead to the state tournament at Capital High School in Boise, they are filled with excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the highest level. With a strong roster of seniors and underclassmen, Lighthouse Christian is poised to make a statement in the postseason.
The team’s success is a result of their hard work, discipline, and belief in each other. As they continue their journey in the postseason, the Lions will carry the lessons learned from their inaugural season and strive for even greater achievements on the diamond.
