Kendall Diggs Looks to Lead Razorbacks Offense Back to Form
Arkansas Razorbacks’ Kendall Diggs Shows Signs of Breaking Out of Slump
FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas offense may have found a spark in right fielder Kendall Diggs, who showed signs of breaking out of a slump in the Razorbacks’ recent win against South Carolina.
Diggs, who had been battling discomfort in his left shoulder for several weeks, had a standout performance with two doubles and two RBIs in the Razorbacks’ 9-6 victory. This marked his first multi-hit game since April 6 and only his second since March 23.
With a .262 batting average, 6 home runs, and 25 RBIs, Diggs will look to continue his resurgence in Tuesday’s game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Head coach Dave Van Horn expressed optimism about Diggs’ performance, stating, “He definitely makes our lineup a lot tougher.” Van Horn has been strategically placing Diggs in the lineup between leadoff and the fifth spot, hoping to capitalize on his hitting abilities.
Diggs, a 6-foot, 200-pound junior from Olathe, Kan., had a strong start to the season with seven multi-hit outings in the first 17 games. However, he has struggled recently, hitting only one home run since March 15-17.
Despite the setbacks, Diggs remains confident in his abilities, stating, “I’m just getting more comfortable while getting back to my old self.”
As the Razorbacks gear up to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff, ranked 304th in the RPI, Diggs’ resurgence could be a game-changer for the team. With his shoulder issues behind him, Diggs is poised to lead the Razorbacks to further success as they continue their impressive season with only six losses so far.
