Jimmies Walk-Off with Game One Win, Explode in Game Two for 20-2 Victory

The University of Jamestown baseball team had an exciting doubleheader against Northwestern College on Saturday, April 6, at Jack Brown Stadium. In game one, the Jimmies pulled off a thrilling 2-1 win with a walk-off two-run homer by Triston Madison in the bottom of the seventh inning. Despite being held to just three hits, Madison’s clutch hit secured the victory for his team.

The Jimmies’ pitcher, Avery Liestman, had a strong outing, pitching a complete game and giving up only one run on six hits. Head coach Tom Hager praised Liestman for his performance and ability to minimize the damage after giving up the home run.

In game two, the Jimmies’ offense exploded, scoring 20 runs in a dominant performance against the Red Raiders. Triston Madison continued his hot streak, hitting three home runs in the doubleheader and totaling seven RBIs. Alex Alva also had a standout game, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and one run.

Coach Hager credited the team’s success in game two to their ability to make adjustments and simplify their approach at the plate. The Jimmies’ 20-run outburst was their highest scoring game since 2023.

With the series sweep, the Jimmies improved to 21-9 on the season and 7-5 in conference play. They will look to carry their momentum into their next game against Dakota Wesleyan University on April 13.

Overall, it was a memorable day for the University of Jamestown baseball team, with Triston Madison’s heroics in game one and the explosive offensive performance in game two showcasing the team’s talent and resilience.
