The Bay College Baseball Team faced a tough challenge against the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders in a recent series, ultimately falling in all four games. The Raiders, who are the reigning Northern Conference Champions, showcased their dominance on the field as they swept the Norse by scores of 10-1, 7-2, 11-4, and 6-3.
In the first game of the series, the Raiders set the tone early by putting up four runs in the first inning. Despite a solo home run by Bay College’s Zach Gibson, Grand Rapids CC continued to extend their lead, ultimately securing a 10-1 victory.
Game two saw the Norse take an early lead, but a defensive miscue in the fourth inning allowed the Raiders to capitalize and score five runs, leading to a 7-2 win for Grand Rapids.
The third game was a closer battle, with Bay College holding a lead until the fourth inning when the Raiders exploded for five runs, ultimately winning 11-4.
In the final game of the series, the Norse struggled to produce runs early on, leaving multiple runners on base. Despite a late rally, the Raiders maintained their lead and secured a 6-3 victory to complete the sweep.
Despite the tough losses, Bay College remains determined as they prepare for upcoming non-conference action in western Wisconsin. The team will face off against Minnesota Post Grad in a doubleheader on Thursday, followed by games against Western Tech and Viterbo JV on Friday.
