New Era Begins for Gladstone Baseball Under Coach Tyler Swanson
The Gladstone Braves baseball program is gearing up for a new season with a new head coach at the helm. After a decade of success under Coach Joe Darmogray, who has moved on to join Bay College’s staff, the Braves are now under the leadership of Tyler Swanson.
Swanson, a former member of Bay College’s baseball staff, is no stranger to the central U.P. baseball scene, having previously coached at Bark River-Harris and North Central. He is excited to take on the challenge of leading the Braves and is looking forward to working with the talented players who have been putting in the hard work.
While the team is losing key players to graduation, including their top pitchers and starting catcher, Swanson sees this as an opportunity for new players to step up and make their mark. He is confident in the seniors and juniors on the team who have the potential to become the core of the team and continue the tradition of success.
Swanson acknowledges that there is a level of anxiety with the changes in the program, but he is committed to coaching the players to be their best and helping them grow throughout the season. He emphasizes the importance of giving players opportunities to succeed and improve, even if they face challenges along the way.
The Braves are set to kick off their 2024 season today against Iron Mountain, and Swanson is eager to see how the team will evolve and grow over the course of the season. With a strong foundation and a new coach at the helm, the Gladstone Braves are ready to take on whatever challenges come their way in the upcoming season.
