Former BYU Baseball Alums Making Waves in Professional Ranks

Former BYU baseball players are making waves in the professional ranks this season, with 10 alums scattered across various minor league teams. From Triple-A to High-A, these former Cougars are showcasing their talents and making a name for themselves in the world of baseball.

One standout player is Daniel Schneemann, currently playing for the Columbus Clippers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Schneemann has been on fire, batting .294 with a home run and five RBI in just seven games. His exceptional plate discipline has earned him a staggering .538 on-base percentage, making him one of the top performers in the minor leagues.

Another notable alum is Jackson Cluff, who is playing for the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Cluff has been a defensive standout, helping turn three double plays in his first game at the Triple-A level. While he may be struggling at the plate, his defensive prowess has kept him valuable within the Nationals’ organization.

Pitcher Justin Sterner is also turning heads with the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Sterner has thrown six scoreless innings over three relief appearances, striking out seven batters without issuing a walk. His impressive performance on the mound has solidified his status as a top pitching prospect.

With former Cougars excelling at every level of the minor leagues, BYU baseball fans have plenty to be excited about as they follow the journeys of these talented players. Whether it’s at Triple-A or High-A, these former “Bat Cats” are proving that they have what it takes to make it to the big leagues.
