Foothill Baseball Bounces Back with 4-3 Win Over El Dorado
In a thrilling redemption game, the Foothill baseball team bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to El Dorado earlier in the week with a 4-3 victory on Thursday. Foothill’s Brian Harbour was the standout player of the game, hitting two doubles and driving in a crucial run to secure the win.
After a rough start in the first inning, where El Dorado took an early 3-0 lead, Foothill’s starting pitcher Gavin Lauridsen settled down and kept the Knights in the game. The USC commit pitched five solid innings, allowing just two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Foothill slowly clawed their way back into the game, scoring their first run in the fourth inning thanks to Harbour’s leadoff double. The Knights tied the game in the fifth inning with Lauridsen and Harbour coming through with clutch hits.
In the sixth inning, Foothill took the lead with a run-scoring bunt single by Ezekiel Vargas. Despite El Dorado’s defense managing to pull off a rare triple play to escape the inning, Foothill held on to their one-run lead.
Relief pitcher Adam Ujiie and UC San Diego signee Garrett Davidson shut down El Dorado in the final inning to secure the win for Foothill. Coach Chris Price praised Ujiie for his dominant performance in pressure situations and Davidson for closing out the game.
The win gives Foothill the season series victory over El Dorado and propels them back into contention in the Crestview League standings. With upcoming games against Tustin and a crucial series against Villa Park, the Knights are looking to build on this momentum and make a push for the league title.
