Florida Gators Drop to No. 9 in Week 7 Coaches Poll Despite Comeback Wins
Despite a pair of comeback wins at home against Mississippi State, the Florida Gators have slipped in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll rankings. The Gators fell three spots from No. 6 to No. 9, with a 16-11 record that is the worst among the top 10 teams.
What’s keeping Florida inside the top 10 is their perfect series weekend against SEC opponents. They have defeated tough teams like Texas A&M, LSU, and Mississippi State, who earned the most poll votes without cracking the top 25.
Looking ahead, the Gators have one of the toughest remaining schedules in the country. Every series left on their schedule, except for a road trip to Missouri, is against a ranked opponent. Teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia are all formidable opponents that Florida will have to face.
In the Week 7 update, Arkansas remains at the top spot with a 23-3 record, followed by Clemson, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Oregon State rounding out the top five. Despite their recent ranking drop, the Gators are still in a good position to make a run in the postseason with their talented roster.
