Evergreen Baseball Team Hands Kelso First Loss of the Season
In a thrilling matchup on Monday, the Evergreen baseball team delivered a stunning blow to the previously undefeated Kelso team with a 4-0 victory. The Plainsmen’s four-run fourth-inning rally, combined with exceptional pitching from Hayden Blanford and Landon Rayner, secured the win and marked the 11th consecutive victory for Evergreen.
The win not only solidified Evergreen’s position in the race for the 3A Greater St. Helens League title but also dealt Kelso their first defeat of the season. Cook then crossed the plate on a wild pitch, and Ryno Oldham Catabay sealed the deal with an RBI single.
Blanford’s stellar performance limited Kelso to just one hit over 3.1 innings, while Rayner closed out the game with 3.2 shutout innings, allowing only four hits.
