Escanaba Baseball Earns Doubleheader Sweep Over Negaunee
The Escanaba Eskymos continue to dominate on the baseball diamond, securing their third consecutive win with a doubleheader sweep over Negaunee. The team’s impressive performance at Al Ness Field on Wednesday improved their season record to 9-5.
In game one, the Eskymos found themselves trailing 5-1 midway through four innings. However, senior Bon LaChance’s solo home run sparked a comeback, with key hits from Nick Chiu and Cannon Arnt tying the game at five runs each. With freshman Brody Ison scoring the winning run in the bottom of the sixth, Escanaba clinched a 6-5 victory.
Ison was a standout performer, going 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and also earning the win on the mound. LaChance contributed with a 2-for-2 performance, including two RBI and a run scored. The Eskymos’ pitching staff, led by Eli Gardner, held Negaunee in check to secure the win.
In game two, Escanaba continued their strong play with a 6-1 victory. Gardner and Ben Johnson provided early RBI singles, while LaChance sealed the win with a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Arnt delivered a solid pitching performance, backed up by Johnson and Peacock in relief.
The Eskymos will look to extend their winning streak as they host Southgate Anderson for a doubleheader on Saturday. With their recent success, Escanaba is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the baseball scene.
