Corona Baseball Team Receives No. 1 Seed in CIF Southern Section Division 1 Playoffs
The Corona baseball team is gearing up for a historic run in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs as they secured the No. 1 seed for this year’s postseason. Led by center fielder and leadoff hitter Anthony Murphy, the Panthers are determined to end a lengthy drought for the top-seeded teams in the Division 1 bracket.
The last time a No. 1 seed clinched the Division 1 baseball title was back in 2002, but Corona is looking to change that narrative this season. After going undefeated in the Big VIII League, the Panthers are set to kick off their playoff journey at home against El Dorado on Friday afternoon.
Corona is not the only Inland team making waves in the playoffs, as Centennial, the runner-up in the Big VIII League, secured the top seed in the Division 3 bracket. With a first-round matchup against Lakewood on Friday, the Huskies are also eyeing a deep postseason run.
Additionally, several other Inland teams have received Top-4 seedings in their respective playoff divisions, including Paloma Valley, Arlington, Summit, Chino Hills, Colony, Grand Terrace, Western Christian, and Cornerstone Christian.
With the competition heating up in the CIF Southern Section baseball playoffs, fans can expect thrilling matchups and intense battles on the diamond. Stay tuned as these teams fight for a shot at glory and look to etch their names in the history books with a championship title.
