Alpena Community College Baseball Drops Home Opener to Community Christian
The Alpena Community College baseball team faced a tough challenge on Sunday as they took on Community Christian in their home opener. Despite a valiant effort, the Lumberjacks fell short in both games, with final scores of 4-3 and 9-6 in favor of the Lions.
In the first game, ACC made a late rally but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity, leaving two runners stranded. The second game saw the Lumberjacks struggle early on, giving up nine runs in the first three innings.
ACC coach Rob Enslen emphasized the need for the team to play more consistently and make routine plays to avoid self-inflicted errors in future games.
Despite the losses, there were some bright spots for Alpena. Caleb Stuck started things off with a hard-hit single that scored a run in the first inning. The Lumberjacks managed to score another run in the second inning, taking an early lead.
However, Community Christian fought back and ultimately secured both wins with strong performances on the mound and at the plate. ACC tried to mount a comeback in the second game but fell short, unable to overcome the early deficit.
Pitchers Wyatt Crawford and Brandon Maddox were highlighted by Coach Enslen for their solid performances on the mound, giving the team a chance to compete.
The Lumberjacks will look to bounce back as they travel to Aquinas College to take on their JV team in their next matchup. Despite the losses, the team remains determined to improve and compete at a high level in future games.
