This Week in Eddy County Sports: Golf, Track, Tennis, Baseball, and Softball Action Ahead
The Carlsbad High School baseball and softball teams are taking a break this week, but there is plenty of action happening in the world of spring sports in Eddy County.
Golf season is kicking off this week with the Cavemen and Cavegirl linksters teeing off at the Coyote Classic at the New Mexico Military Institute Golf Course in Roswell on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The track teams from Carlsbad High School are back in action after spring break, participating in the Gene Wells Relays in Hobbs on Friday at 3 p.m.
The tennis teams from Carlsbad will be wrapping up their non-district play in Albuquerque this week. They will face off against El Dorado High School on Friday at 2 p.m. and then take on La Cueva High School on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Loving Falcons baseball team will be hosting a doubleheader at Loving High School on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Falcons are off to a strong start this season with a 9-1 record.
Loving softball will be hitting the road this week, facing off against Dora High School in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The team will then travel to Las Cruces on Friday to participate in the Mesilla Valley Christian tournament.
Artesia High School’s baseball team will be wrapping up a road trip with a doubleheader against Hobbs on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are looking to bounce back after a 1-2 showing at the Sal Puentes Memorial Baseball Tournament.
Artesia’s softball team will be back home on Friday, hosting Roswell High School for a doubleheader at 5 p.m. The team is coming off a tournament win at the Lady Dog Invitational.
The track teams from Artesia will also be traveling to Hobbs on Friday to compete in the Gene Wells Relays, while the tennis teams will be hosting Portales High School for dual matches on Tuesday.
And last but not least, the Artesia golf teams will be starting their season at the Coyote Classic in Roswell on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
