Amarillo High Sandies Secure Perfect District Season with Walk-Off Win

In a thrilling finish to their regular season, the Amarillo High Sandies secured a perfect district championship season in District 3-5A with a walk-off win against Plainview on Friday. The game was tied heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, with the Sandies facing tough competition from the Bulldogs.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, senior Max McLemore stepped up to the plate and delivered a clutch single to right-center, driving home Garrett Robertson for the winning run. The victory gave the Sandies a perfect district record of 12-0, solidifying their status as the undisputed best team in 3-5A this season.

Head coach Randon Johnson praised the team’s resilience and ability to come through in tight situations, emphasizing the importance of the win as they head into the playoffs. McLemore, who played his final regular season game at Sandie Field, expressed his pride in the team’s undefeated district season and the grit they showed in grinding out a tough win.
