In a thrilling Section 7-2A matchup on Tuesday, April 23, the Aitkin Gobblers dominated the Pequot Lakes Patriots with an impressive 11-1 victory. Cole Trotter led the charge for Aitkin, finishing 2-4 with four RBIs, a run, and a stolen base. Ian McNevin also had a standout performance, going 2-4 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs, while Jake McGuire contributed with an RBI of his own. On the defensive side, Drew Paulbeck pitched a stellar game, striking out seven over five innings and allowing no earned runs on five hits and no walks.
Pequot Lakes put up a fight, with Blake Spiczka going 2-2 and Ethan Quale going 2-3, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Aitkin’s strong performance.
In another exciting game on the same day, the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines secured a 16-4 victory over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale.
