In a stunning display of dominance, Caitlin Viray and the Farm Fresh Foxies put an end to their five-game losing streak by dismantling the Strong Group Athletics in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference. The Foxies delivered a convincing beatdown, winning in straight sets with scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Thursday, April 18.
Viray, who came off the bench in the second set, made an immediate impact by contributing 11 points, including eight attacks, two blocks, and an ace. The victory improved Farm Fresh’s record to 3-7, while Strong Group Athletics remained winless after 10 matches.
Despite facing a deficit in the third set, Farm Fresh rallied behind Pia Ildefonso, who traded hits with Strong Group’s Dolly Verzosa and Mary Joy Onfore to level the score at 22. Viray then broke the deadlock with a crucial kill, setting up Ildefonso to put the Foxies at match point. In the final moments, Viray delivered the finishing blow to secure the win.
Trisha Tubu led the scoring with 13 points, with Anj Legacion orchestrating the offense with 12 excellent sets. Chinnie Arroyo and Ildefonso also made significant contributions with seven and six markers, respectively. On the other hand, Strong Group Athletics struggled to find their rhythm, with no player reaching double figures in scoring.
Looking ahead, Farm Fresh will face the league-leading Choco Mucho on Tuesday, April 23, aiming to finish their campaign on a high note. Meanwhile, Strong Group Athletics will try to avoid a winless season as they take on Akari on Saturday, April 27, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
