Bud Postma Named Interim Athletics Director at Dakota State University

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University has announced that Bud Postma will be taking over as the interim athletics director, following the retirement of Jeff Dittman earlier this month. Postma, a well-known figure in South Dakota athletics, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Postma has a long history in athletics, having served as the athletics director at Madison High School for many years. He has also coached girls and boys golf, wrestling, and football, and has held various leadership and administrative positions in Madison.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bud to the Trojan Family,” said José-Marie Griffiths, President of Dakota State. “His extensive experience in teaching, coaching, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build on the momentum of our athletics programs and facilities.”

Postma expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead DSU Athletics, citing his strong relationships within the Madison community as a key asset in his new role. He has also been actively involved in the South Dakota High School Activities Association, serving on various boards and committees.

With DSU currently undergoing a construction project for a new athletics events center, Postma’s experience in overseeing similar projects at Madison High School will be particularly valuable. He played a key role in a gymnasium construction project in Madison about a decade ago, and is looking forward to bringing that expertise to DSU.

Postma’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for DSU Athletics, and his leadership will be crucial in guiding the department through this period of transition. With his background in coaching, administration, and facility management, Postma is well-equipped to lead DSU Athletics to new heights.
