“Indian Athletes Set to Compete at World Athletics Relays in Bahamas”
India is all set to make its mark at the World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, with a strong contingent of 15 athletes ready to compete for glory. The two-day event, scheduled for May 4 and 5 at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium, will see India vying for three 400m relay quota places at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Leading the charge for India will be the men’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh. This formidable quartet, who clinched gold at the Asian Games 2023, also hold the national and Asian records in the men’s 4x400m relay event. Their stellar performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year, where they clocked a time of 2:59.05s, has set high expectations for their performance at the World Relays.
On the women’s front, India will be represented by a seven-member team in the 4x400m relay event, including the silver medal-winning quartet from the Asian Games 2023 – Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra, Prachi, and Subha Venkatesan. The experienced MR Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Rupal complete the women’s relay squad.
With the top 14 teams from the World Relays securing a spot at the Paris Olympics, the pressure is on for India to deliver standout performances and secure their place among the elite. The qualification process will be intense, with only the top two teams from each heat advancing to the final and earning a coveted spot at the Olympics.
As the Indian athletes gear up to showcase their talent on the global stage, all eyes will be on them to see if they can rise to the occasion and make their mark at the World Athletics Relays.
