Indian Athletes Shine at Asian U-20 Athletics Championships: Laxita Vinod Sandilea Wins Silver, Shreeya Rajesh Bags Bronze
Indian athletes Laxita Vinod Sandilea and Shreeya Rajesh showcased their talent and determination on the penultimate day of the Asian U-20 Athletics Championships in Dubai, clinching silver and bronze medals, respectively. With these impressive performances, India’s medal tally now stands at 15, including five gold, six silver, and five bronze medals.
In the women’s 400m hurdles, Shreeya Rajesh ran a well-judged race, overcoming the barriers to secure a bronze medal with a time of 59.20 seconds. Meanwhile, Laxita Vinod Sandilea lived up to her reputation in the women’s 800m event, finishing with a silver medal in a time of 2:07.10 seconds.
Despite a challenging morning session, Indian athletes raised the bar in the evening events, with more medals expected by the end of the session. Tanvi Malik finished sixth in the women’s 800m event, clocking a time of 2:13.42.
In other events, Sachin finished fourth in the men’s 10,000m race walk, while Himanshu was unfortunately disqualified. The women’s hammer throw saw Nadini and Anushka finish fifth and sixth, respectively. However, Sabita Toppo and Unnathi Aiyappa Bolland advanced to the medal round in the women’s 100m hurdles heats.
The men’s 4x100m relay team also advanced to the medal round, finishing second in their heat with a time of 40.43 seconds. The Indian team’s performance has been commendable, with athletes showcasing their talent and determination on the international stage.
