Carolina MacQuarrie Named Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at Ithaca College
Ithaca College has announced the hiring of Carolina MacQuarrie as the new Assistant Director of Sports Medicine. MacQuarrie, who will begin her appointment on June 17, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett expressed her excitement about MacQuarrie’s appointment, stating, “Carolina is an exceptional health care professional with vast clinical experience. She is uniquely qualified to lead our efforts in Sports Medicine and is fully committed to providing high-level care for our student-athletes.”
MacQuarrie joins Ithaca College after three years as an assistant athletic trainer at Williams College, where she worked with multiple varsity athletic teams. Her responsibilities included developing rehabilitative and preventative exercises for student-athletes, as well as collaborating with the team physician on return-to-play decisions.
In addition to her time at Williams College, MacQuarrie has experience managing her own physical therapy clinic in Brazil and working in ICU units as a physical and respiratory therapist. Her diverse background and strong leadership skills make her a valuable addition to the Ithaca College sports medicine team.
“We are excited to welcome Carolina to lead our sports medicine team,” said athletic trainer Courtney Gray. “Her unique perspective and enthusiasm will enhance our commitment to providing top-tier care to our student-athletes.”
A native of Brazil, MacQuarrie holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania. She also earned her physical therapy degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil.
MacQuarrie’s husband, Dan MacQuarrie, previously served as an assistant swimming and diving coach at Ithaca College. Carolina expressed her enthusiasm for joining the Bombers community, stating, “My goal is to build upon the tradition of excellence at IC athletics and provide our student-athletes with the best care and experience possible. GO BOMBERS!”
