Ithaca College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the appointment of Andrew Park as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Performance. Park will also guide IC’s Peak Performance Strategy, and his first day on South Hill will be June 17.
Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett ’79 expressed her excitement about Park joining the staff, stating, “Coach Park brings a wealth of experience on both the Division I and III levels. His passion for excellence came through in his interview with us. I am confident that he will build on the strong foundation established by Vic Brown in Strength and Conditioning and our academic colleagues in Exercise Science.”
Park comes to Ithaca College after spending the last two years at Lake Forest College in Illinois as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Director of Physical Education and Forester Fitness. During his time at Lake Forest, Park developed and implemented sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all 25 varsity athletics teams, worked on return-to-play protocols and injury reduction programs, and utilized sports science and data collection to track progress in athletic development programming.
Prior to Lake Forest, Park worked at Hartwick College, where he was the head strength and conditioning coach and equipment room manager. He also spent time at Winthrop University in South Carolina as a graduate assistant and assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Park holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in sport and fitness administration. He is certified by NSCA, USA Weightlifting, and the American Red Cross.
The Ithaca College community is excited to welcome Coach Andrew Park and looks forward to the impact he will have on the sports performance program. With his experience and dedication, Park is sure to elevate the athletic department to new heights.
