Indian Athlete Aishwarya Mishra’s Bronze Medal Upgraded to Silver After Doping Scandal: Olympics.com

Indian athlete Aishwarya Mishra’s journey to success has taken an unexpected turn as her bronze medal from the women’s 400m sprint event at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023 is set to be upgraded to silver. This upgrade comes after Uzbekistan’s Farida Soliyeva, the original silver medalist, failed a dope test, testing positive for the prohibited substance meldonium.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has handed Farida a three-year ban, erasing her competitive results from July 13, 2023, onwards. This decision means that Aishwarya’s medal will be upgraded to silver, and Japanese athlete Haruna Kuboyama will receive the bronze medal.

Aishwarya’s success at the championships was not limited to the individual event. She also played a crucial role in the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team’s gold medal win, setting a national record with her teammates. Additionally, she secured a bronze medal in the women’s 4x400m relay event, showcasing her versatility and talent on the track.

The Asian Athletics Championships 2023 was a successful outing for India, with the team securing a total of 27 medals, including six gold medals. Aishwarya’s performances contributed significantly to India’s overall success, highlighting her potential as a rising star in the world of athletics.

As Aishwarya prepares to receive her upgraded silver medal, she continues to inspire young athletes across the country with her dedication and determination. Her journey serves as a reminder of the resilience and hard work required to succeed at the highest levels of sport.
