Rory Beggan returns to Monaghan bench for Ulster Championship preliminary round against Cavan

In a surprising turn of events, Gaelic football star Rory Beggan has returned from America, where he was pursuing a career in the NFL as a kicker, to join the Monaghan squad for their upcoming Ulster Championship preliminary round match against Cavan.

Beggan, who has been a key player for Monaghan since making his inter-county debut in 2011, has been a two-time Ulster Championship winner and an All-Star recipient in 2018. Known for his exceptional free-taking abilities, Beggan has been a crucial player for both Monaghan and his club Scotstown over the years.

Despite his absence from the team while training in the US, Beggan has been named on the bench for Sunday’s game, giving Monaghan fans hope that they may see their star goalkeeper in action once again.

Monaghan boss Vinny Corey had previously expressed uncertainty about Beggan’s availability, but after the goalkeeper returned home and trained with the team, it seems likely that he could feature in the match against Cavan.

In addition to Beggan’s potential return, Monaghan will also see the inclusion of key players like Conor McManus and Conor McCarthy in the starting lineup, adding strength to their team as they face off against Cavan, who finished third in Division Two.

With the excitement building for Sunday’s clash at St Tiernach’s Park in Clones, Gaelic football fans will be eagerly anticipating Beggan’s potential comeback and the thrilling action that is sure to unfold on the field. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting and competitive match between Monaghan and Cavan.
