Pittsburgh Steelers Host First-Ever Kicking Clinic in Ireland
The Pittsburgh Steelers made history yesterday as they hosted their first-ever American football Kicking Clinic on the island of Ireland. The event, held at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin, was a huge success with over 25 aspiring Irish kickers and punters in attendance.
Former Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham and former punter Jordan Berry led the clinic, providing real-time coaching and instruction to the participants. Among the attendees were Monaghan’s Rory Beggan, Mark Jackson, and Darragh Leader, who all took part in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program earlier this year.
The event, which was free for all participants, is part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program, which aims to expand the league’s brand and activities internationally. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been actively engaging with fans in Ireland, hosting various events such as youth football skills clinics and fan watch parties.
Director of Business Development and Strategy for the Steelers, Dan Rooney, expressed his excitement about the clinic, stating, “Events like these allow us to teach the game of American Football to aspiring Irish athletes and enable us to continue to grow the love of our game beyond the US.”
The Steelers have also launched dedicated Irish social media accounts to connect with their Irish fans and share content from the Kicking Clinic. They are currently planning future events and marketing activities in Ireland and Northern Ireland, with the goal of eventually hosting an NFL game on the island.
Overall, the Pittsburgh Steelers Kicking Clinic was a great success and a step towards further expanding American football in Ireland. Fans can look forward to more exciting events and activities from the Steelers in the near future.
