Morehead High School’s Brittyn Barnes Commits to Greensboro College

EDEN — Morehead High School’s star athlete, Brittyn Barnes, made a big decision on April 19 as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Greensboro College. Barnes, a three-sport athlete excelling in football, basketball, and baseball, has been a standout player for the Panthers.

Barnes, a 2023 Mid-State 2A All Conference selection in football, has shown his versatility and skill in multiple sports and positions. His former high school coach, Maurice Torain, who is now the defensive coordinator at Greensboro College, expressed his excitement about Barnes joining the Pride.

“It’s definitely a blessing getting to see him go to college and play at the next level. I’m very happy for him to be a part of the Pride,” said Torain.

For Barnes, the opportunity to play under his former coach was a major factor in his decision. “The decision was based on having a coach I can trust. I just believe in what he put out there for us. I feel like we have a connection and think alike, and he really believed in me so it’s a good fit,” Barnes said.

With experience playing multiple positions in different sports, Barnes brings a unique skill set to Greensboro College. The Pride plans to utilize him as a wide receiver, but Barnes is open to any opportunity to contribute on the field.

Greensboro College, a member of the USA South Athletic Conference, is looking forward to Barnes making an impact on their team. With Barnes’ dedication, work ethic, and time management skills, he is set to excel both on and off the field at the collegiate level.

As Barnes prepares to embark on this new chapter in his athletic career, he remains grateful for the opportunities he’s had in high school and looks forward to continuing his success at Greensboro College.
