Lagos State Sports Commission Hosts American Football Players for Youth Development Event
The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) is on a mission to discover and nurture talents in the state, with a focus on providing the right infrastructure, expertise, and collaboration with critical stakeholders for the development of budding stars. This was highlighted by the Director General of the Commission, Lekan Fatodu, during a recent event at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The event, titled “Pep Talk, Meet and Greet with Members of American Football League,” featured international American Football players Odafe Oweh and Jesse Luketa. The aim of the program was to inspire young people, gain knowledge of diverse sporting interests, and provide insights on how to effectively nurture passionate individuals in the world of sports, drawing from the experiences of the NFL.
Fatodu emphasized Lagos as a hub for sports development and expressed gratitude for the engagement with the NFL players. He highlighted the importance of capturing the interrelationship between education and sports, ensuring that sports talents are not only developed physically but also intellectually.
Odafe and Jesse, who have reached the highest level in American Football in the NFL, shared how the sport has transformed their lives and emphasized the importance of using the platform correctly.
