Introducing NFL Flag: A Modified Version of American Football for Kids aged 9-12 Years

Calling all kids aged 9-12 years! If you’re looking for a fun and exciting way to spend the last day of the school holidays, look no further than NFL Flag. This modified, non-contact version of American Football is sure to get your adrenaline pumping and your competitive spirit soaring.

On Sunday 14 April, head down to the Kawana Sports Precinct and join in on the action. NFL Flag involves five players a side, allowing both boys and girls to play together. Instead of tackling, players wear flag belts and the opposing team must pull the player’s flag to end the attack.

Sunshine Coast Council Division 3 Councillor Tim Burns is excited about the potential for Flag Football to become a popular sport in the region, especially with the recent approval of Flag Football as an Olympic sport for LA 2028. This could be a strategic opportunity for the Sunshine Coast to become a hub for Flag Football ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032.

With schools already registered to offer the NFL Flag primary schools program, including Brightwater Primary School, Chancellor State College, Suncoast Christian College, and Glasshouse Christian College, there is a growing interest in the sport. NFL Australia and NZ General Manager Charlotte Offord is thrilled to be partnering with Sunshine Coast Council to expand Flag Football across the region.

Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to try NFL Flag and be a part of the growing sport in Australia. Join us on Sunday 14 April at the Kawana Sports Precinct for a free Come and Try day. Register at nflflag.com.au/comeandtry and get ready to experience the thrill of Flag Football!
