WWS Scout Camp in Johannesburg: Opportunity for Young Athletes to Showcase Talent and Secure Scholarships
The World Wide Scholarships (WWS) Scout Camp is set to take place in Johannesburg on April 13 and 14, providing young African athletes with a platform to showcase their skills in front of talent scouts from top sporting organizations worldwide.
Founded by CEO Munya Maraire, the camp is now in its fifth year and aims to not only identify talent but also provide developmental opportunities for athletes in sports such as American football, soccer, field hockey, and basketball. With guidance and coaching from leading coaches, participants will have the chance to improve their skills and potentially secure scholarships or professional opportunities.
Since its inception in 2020, the WWS Scout Camp has seen over 5000 young athletes participate, with 50 receiving international scholarships and 250+ soccer players placed in the WWS Soccer Academy. This year, the camp will also be scouting for pro opportunities in soccer, offering young players the chance to train with top-rated professional club academies in Italy.
The event will feature a lineup of experienced coaches, including former AS Roma player and soccer scout Amadeo Mangone, NFL/college football scout Ric Serritella, college hockey scout Kath D’Angelis, and former director of Philadelphia 76ers camps Todd Landrey. These coaches, along with others, will be on hand to evaluate talent and connect promising athletes with life-changing opportunities.
