Boise State Women’s Tennis Falls to San Jose State in Mountain West Championship Opener
In a hard-fought battle at the Mountain West Championship, the Boise State women’s tennis team fell short against San Jose State with a final score of 4-3. The Broncos started strong by securing the doubles point, but ultimately couldn’t hold off the Spartans in singles play.
Leading the way for Boise State was Joana Baptista, who dominated her singles match on court three with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cheuk Ying Shek. Nicole Discenza also delivered a strong performance, winning in straight sets on court five. However, San Jose State rallied back to win the next four matches and secure the overall victory.
Head coach Beck Roghaar praised his team’s effort, especially the five graduating seniors who have made a significant impact on the program. Despite the tough loss, the Broncos showed resilience and fought until the very end.

In singles action, Carolina Millan of San Jose State clinched a crucial victory over Ernstberger in a three-set battle. The Spartans ultimately emerged victorious after a hard-fought match against the Broncos.
