BYU Baseball Completes Season Sweep of Utah with Walk-Off Win

The BYU baseball team celebrated in style on Tuesday evening as they secured a thrilling 5-4 victory over Utah at Miller Park. Kuhio Aloy’s walk-off RBI single in the ninth inning completed a season sweep of the Utes, marking a significant win for the Cougars.

Head coach Trent Pratt praised his team’s performance, highlighting the importance of everyone stepping up and doing their job. The victory was a true team effort, with players coming together to secure the win in dramatic fashion.

BYU’s comeback was fueled by runs in the eighth and ninth innings, showcasing their resilience and determination. This win marked the first time this season that the Cougars had come from behind to win after trailing in the eighth inning.

Pitcher Payton Gubler had a standout performance, striking out a career-high five batters and leading a strong pitching effort that saw BYU record a total of 14 strikeouts in the game.

The Cougars got off to a strong start, scoring early runs and building a lead before Utah mounted a comeback in the fourth inning. However, BYU responded with timely hits and solid defense to claw their way back into the game.

In the eighth inning, BYU rallied to tie the game at 4-4 before Aloy’s heroics in the ninth sealed the victory for the Cougars. The walk-off win was a fitting end to an exciting game and a memorable sweep of their rivals.

BYU will now turn their attention to a three-game road series against No. 19 Oklahoma State, with the first game set for Thursday, April 25.
