“Rowing Ireland Launches ‘Catch Us If You Can’ Initiative Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics”
Rowing Ireland has launched an exciting new initiative, “Catch Us If You Can,” aimed at engaging schools and clubs across the country in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This initiative will give students a taste of the rigorous training schedule of Rowing Ireland’s High-Performance athletes, with schools competing for the chance to win a state-of-the-art Concept 2 rowing machine.
The program will feature a series of inspiring videos showcasing the personal experiences and training insights of Rowing Ireland’s elite athletes as they prepare for the Paris Games. These behind-the-scenes glimpses will highlight the dedication and determination required to compete at the highest level of rowing.
“We are thrilled to launch ‘Catch Us If You Can’ ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics,” said Derek Bowen, Manager of the Get Rowing Programme. “This initiative not only provides a unique opportunity for schools and clubs to engage with the sport of rowing but also allows us to share the incredible journey of our high-performance athletes.”
In addition to schools, the initiative will extend to Rowing Ireland’s 100 clubs, offering members the chance to witness the training pursuits of the HP athletes leading up to the Olympics. This inclusive approach aims to foster camaraderie and connection within the rowing community, uniting athletes of all levels in their passion for the sport.
Rowing Ireland President, Neville Maxwell, expressed excitement about the program’s potential to link schools with high-performance athletes and inspire students. With Ireland already having six boats qualified for the Paris Olympics and one for the Paralympics, the initiative comes at an exciting time for Irish rowing.
“Catch Us If You Can” builds upon the success of Rowing Ireland’s existing Get Going…Get Rowing program, furthering the organisation’s commitment to promoting participation and excellence in rowing across Ireland. With the support of Sports Ireland Dormant Account Funding and Dublin City Council, the program engages 45,000 students annually and offers a range of training opportunities for young rowers.
As the rowing community gears up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, “Catch Us If You Can” promises to inspire and engage a new generation of rowers across Ireland.
