Meet the nominees for the Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards in hockey

Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards: Winter Nominees for Hockey Player of the Year

The Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards has announced the nominees for the prestigious Hockey Player of the Year award. The winner will be revealed during a live show on June 10 at Marathon Music Works, produced in partnership with Nissan and sponsored by the Nashville Predators.

This nine-month student-athlete recognition program will culminate in a red-carpet show this spring, honoring athletes, coaches, and teams from the Mid-State region. The live show will also recognize the player of the year for 26 other sports, as well as present awards for Courage, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year.

All nominees who RSVP will receive complimentary tickets to the event, thanks to sponsors. Nominated athletes can register online, while guests can purchase tickets through a provided link.

The nominees for Hockey Player of the Year include standout players from various high schools in the region. Among the nominees are Owen Appel from Ravenwood High School, JT Borland from Nolensville High School, and Alec Dawes from Homeschool. Other nominees include Justin Dickinson from Smyrna High School, Zachary Ellis from Page High School, and Lee Guy from Montgomery Bell Academy.

The competition is tough, with players like Austin Hester from Father Ryan High School, Hudson Honeybone from Ensworth High School, and Liam Powell from Ravenwood High School also in the running. Rounding out the list are Jacob Schenk from James Lawson High School, Ben Sonkin from Ensworth High School, and Hunter Wieck from Montgomery Bell Academy.
