Junior Jordan Bowers Named Finalist for 2024 Honda Sport Award for Gymnastics
Junior Jordan Bowers of the University of Oklahoma has been named a finalist for the 2024 Honda Sport Award for Gymnastics, as announced by the Collegiate Women Sports Award (CWSA) on Tuesday. Bowers is among the elite group of finalists, which includes Haleigh Bryant (LSU), Jade Carey (Oregon State), and Leanne Wong (Florida).
The Honda Sport Award is a prestigious honor presented annually by the CWSA to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, representing the best of collegiate athletics. The winner of the sport award will also become a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the esteemed 2024 Honda Cup.
Bowers had an outstanding junior season, competing in the all-around in every meet with an impressive 98% hit rate. She earned first-team All-America honors on floor and bars at the NCAA Championships, finishing second and third, respectively, on those events.
As the 2024 South Central Region Gymnast of the Year and Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, Bowers played a pivotal role in leading OU to its 23rd overall NCAA Championships appearance, 14th-straight regional title, and 15th Big 12 Championship. She showcased her talent by earning six perfect 10s this season, bringing her career total to nine.
Bowers’ exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, as she looks to join the ranks of past Sooner gymnasts who have received the Honda Sport Award. With her remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport, Bowers is a strong contender for this prestigious accolade.
