India Announces 15-Member Relay Team for World Athletics Relays 2024 Event
India has announced its 15-member relay team for the upcoming World Athletics Relays 2024 event, where they will also compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers. The World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24, which serves as a qualifying tournament for the Paris Olympics, will take place over two days on May 4 and 5.
The competition will see the top two teams in each heat on the opening day advance to the final on day two, where they will secure Paris 2024 Olympic quotas. The finals will also determine the Olympic lane seeding positions and the teams will compete for medals.
A total of 32 teams will compete in the men’s 4x400m relay, 27 teams in the women’s 4x400m relay, and 30 teams in the mixed 4x400m relay. India will be represented in all three races, with a strong team lineup.
The men’s 4x400m relay team includes Asian Games gold medallists Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh, among others. The women’s team features multiple Asian Games gold medallist MR Poovamma and the Hangzhou Asian Games silver-medal winning team.
In the mixed 4x400m relay, India will be represented by a talented group of athletes, including Vithya Ramraj and Rajesh Ramesh, who were part of the silver medal-winning Asian Games 2023 team.
With a strong contingent of athletes set to compete at the World Athletics Relays 2024, India will be looking to secure their spots at the Paris 2024 Olympics and make their mark on the international stage.
