Norway Knights Dominate Niagara in Varsity Baseball Matchup at Mike Maule Field
The Norway varsity baseball team dominated the field on Monday as they faced off against the Niagara Badgers at Mike Maule Field in Marion Park. The Knights secured an impressive 11-3 victory, showcasing their strength and skill throughout the game.
Norway head coach Tony Adams commended his team’s strong start, stating, “We jumped on Niagara right away. They’re a good team. They’re in the hunt for their conference championship and we know these guys.” The Knights’ early lead set the tone for the game, with their solid approach at the plate proving to be a key factor in their success.
On the other side, Niagara’s head coach Brad Richtig acknowledged his team’s lackluster performance, noting, “We came out flat to start and we didn’t pick it up when we needed to.” The Badgers struggled to match the Knights’ energy and fell behind early in the game.
Pitcher Bryce Adams was a standout player for Norway, delivering a strong performance on the mound with eight strikeouts in five innings. Adams expressed his confidence in his defense, stating, “I trust my defense, so I don’t have a problem throwing it over the plate.”
Niagara’s Mason Richtig provided a highlight for his team with a three-run homer over the left field fence, showcasing his power at the plate. Despite the Badgers’ efforts to rally, Norway maintained control of the game and secured the win.
With this victory under their belt, Norway looks ahead to their upcoming matchup against Ironwood, while Niagara prepares to face off against Coleman, Wisconsin. Both teams will be looking to build on their performances and continue their pursuit of success on the baseball diamond.
