Colin Jackson predicts new British athletics stars at Paris Olympics

Olympic silver medallist Colin Jackson is optimistic about the upcoming Paris Games, believing they could usher in a new era of British athletics superstars. The former hurdler, who won silver at the 1988 Seoul Games and set a world record in 1993, sees the Olympics as the perfect stage for emerging talent to shine.

Jackson acknowledges the legacy left by his friend Usain Bolt, but he is excited about the potential for new stars to emerge in the sport. He believes that a successful showing by the British team in Paris could lead to the rise of a new generation of athletes who will capture the public’s imagination.

With Bolt’s retirement in 2017, the sport of athletics is in need of new heroes, and Jackson is hopeful that the Paris Games will provide the platform for these athletes to make their mark. He points to the success of “Super Saturday” at the 2012 London Games as an example of how a new generation of athletes can capture the public’s attention.

As the international sports director for the Wings for Life World Run, Jackson has a unique perspective on the challenges faced by athletes, both able-bodied and para athletes. He believes that excellence is the key to success, and encourages athletes to always strive for improvement.

With the Paris Games just around the corner, Jackson is looking forward to seeing the next generation of British athletics stars take center stage. Whether it’s Zharnel Hughes, Josh Kerr, Molly Caudery, or Olivia Breen, Jackson is excited to see who will emerge as the new household names in the sport.
